India has been a prominent team among international cricket teams. But the glory of the biggest team grew scales under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Indian cricket got its vertebrae straight during his leadership. He is a man of strong willpower, determination and above all a supporting head of team like ours. Time magazine lists him among the ‘100 most influential person in 2011’. His enthusiasm and passion for the cricket make him my favorite cricketer.

M S Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand to Pan Singh and Devaki Devi. Dhoni was a goalkeeper for his football team. But his goal keeping skills were directed to wicket keeping and he mastered it. He began his cricket journey from Vinoo Mankad trophies. And the performance enlisted him in U-19. Gradually he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar in 1999-2000. It was the cricket legends Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri spotted his potential to a world class player. His first ODI was against Bangladesh. But won a remarkable position in ODI team with the success of India – Pakistan ODI series and rest were histories.

And the golden feather of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India’s highest honour was given for his achievement in sports; 2007–08. He was respected with the honorary doctorate degree from De Montfort University in August 2011.

M.S. Dhoni : A Successful Captain
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the current captain of the Indian Cricket team. He was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand to pan singh and Devaki Davi. His paternal village Lvali is in the Lamgarha block of the Almora District of Uttarakhand. Dhoni’s parents, moved from Uttarakhand to Ranchi where Pan Singh worked in junior management positions in MECON. Dhoni has a sister Jayanti and a brother Narendra.
Dhoni studied at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir , Shyamli, (now the schoolis known as JVM, Shyamli, Ranchi) Ranchi, Jharkhand where he initially excelled in badminton and football and was selected at district and club level in these sports. Dhoni was a goalkeeper for his football team and was sent to play cricket for local cricket club by his football coach. Though he had not played cricket, Dhoni impressed with his wicket-keeping skills and became the regular wicketkeeper at the commando cricket club(1995-1998). He also lead the team to their first ever bilateral ODI series wins Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Dhoni has also been the recipient of many awards including the IIC ODI player of the year award in 2008 (the first Indian player to achieve this feat), the Rajive Gandhi Khel Ratna award and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor in 2009. Also Dhoni named as Skipper of Wisden’s first-ever Dream Test XI Team in 2009. In the history of test match India become first time number one in December 2009 m under leadership of Dhoni. In 2011 India won ICC World Cup cricket.
